Helpful tidbits for longer lasting cabinets and countertops
- Cabinets and countertops should always, only, be washed with warm soapy water. Dish soap is the best to use. Dish soap is not abrasive but will help to take away any or grease or oils that may build up on the cabinets.
- Cabinets should be cleaned at least bi-weekly to prevent build-up or ordinary grease and grime cause by cooking.
- Granite is a pourus material; therefore, will take in any spills, leaving your countertops over time looking stained. It is very important to immediately wipe any spills.
- Quartz should be wiped thoroughly too adequately clean your countertop. If you leave any cleaner or soap on the countertops, you will see streaks.
- Never cut directly on your countertop, always use a cutting board.
- Ice glass and crackled glass can be cleaned with Windex.
What NOT to use:
- Do NOT use oils or waxes on your Cabinets as this will ruin the finish.
- Do NOT use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as they will scratch the surface.
- Do NOT use house hold cleaners or harsh chemicals on your cabinets as this will also ruin the finish on your cabinets.
Keep in mind…
- If you are renovating your home, you are responsible for the removal of your old cabinets. If you are unable to do this Mirage Woodworks would be happy to direct you to a cabinet removal company.
- Be aware of the fact that your new cabinets may be a different size from the old ones and the walls may need to be repainted.
- Any new flooring should be installed following the installation of your new cabinets. Mirage Woodworks cannot guarantee there will be no damage to the flooring. If you do, however, have your new flooring installed prior to cabinet installation, it is your responsibility to have it properly covered to avoid any damages.
- Remember to allot extra time, as to when you would like to have your job done, for delays as unexpected situations sometimes arise.
- Remember that your wood cabinets over time will change in tone and color. This is due to light exposure, temperature, and house hold chemicals.
- Mirage makes no guarantees to match the color that you are picking for your new cabinets to any existing furniture or cabinets that you may have. As stated above color over time changes. We can however, choose a color that will accent and compliment your existing color.
- Our installers are not authorized to make any significant changes to your job plan. If you need to make changes please contact your Mirage Woodworks Representative at 306-343-9663.
- Please have a space prepared for our installers to cut materials. If the contractors are cutting inside you will need to cover the cutting area with a tarp or plastic cover. Our installers do not supply this covering. In the summer they can use the back yard, driveway, or garage. Winter, however, they will have to cut inside your home or heated garage as it is cold. Take a few minutes to pick a low traffic area, out of the way of your family, such as the basement or a spare bedroom. This area should be designated only for the installers until the job is completed.
